ALT-3 How to Make a Creative Housewarming Gift
A new neighbor is moving in next door or one of your friends or family members are moving to a new home and you suddenly find yourself searching for ideas of what to give as a housewarming gift. Everyone appreciates creative gifts that are thoughtful and heartfelt. The great thing about this is it also doesn't have to cost much.
Anyone who has just been through a move or is in the middle of moving would love a nice picnic basket full of goodies.
If you know the family personally you could easily fill the basket with some of their favorite home cooked foods including a nice desert. Be sure and include disposable plates, utensils, napkins and something to drink.
If it is a couple with no children living at home you could always add a nice table cloth, a candle, a bottle of wine and a couple of inexpensive wine glasses. So they can have a romantic picnic in their new home.
If the family you are buying for is someone you don't know you could buy them a gift certificate for a meal out at a local restaurant. Even better, offer to take them out to eat so you can become acquainted with them. If they are new to the area you can show them around a bit while you are out together.
A great idea for a housewarming party is a money tree. You could start with a nice fake dogwood tree. Before you take it, place some money on the tree. This is easy to do with a tiny piece of tape. When you get to the party encourage other people to add to the money tree. The couple can use the money from the money tree to buy anything they want. Then they can decorate a hallway or entry way with the tree.
