ALT-3 How to Give a Creative and Original Valentines Day Gifts

From 3arf

Making a Valentines Day Gift Basket does not have to be complicated, if you know what the love of your life enjoys.

If your partner is a gardener, you can make a gift basket using some items that your gardener will need and enjoy when spring arrives and all through the gardening season.

These are my recommendations for putting together a gardener's gift basket.

Visit your local garden center. You will find a large array of gardening hand tools that the gardener in your life will love.

Start with a large basket, garden tools can be bulky. Line the bottom with a garden apron. Make sure your apron has plenty of pockets.

Next, add the tools you have chosen from the garden center. My recommendations are a trowel, a claw, a spade and a new plant setter.

You will also want to add a packet of seeds, a pair of gardening gloves and you can top it off with a potted hyacinth.

If your basket is big enough, you can also add garden clogs, a wind chime or other garden ornament. There are many garden ornaments to choose from; stepping stones, plaques, statues or gnomes. The possibilities are almost limitless.

Your gardener can use the basket later in the season when it comes time to harvest from the garden.

Another option in lieu of the basket would be to get a large watering can to fill with your gardening goodies. A can will not hold as many items as a basket, but if you are creative, you can attach some of the items to the outside of the can. Your gardener will have to dig into the can to retrieve all the treats from within. Almost like Christmas all over again.

If you want to be more creative and add more function to your gift, there is a great gardening accessory called a "Garden Bucket Caddy". It is like an apron for a five-gallon bucket. It wraps around the bucket and has tons of pockets. Fill the pockets with garden snips, a scissor, pruning shears, trowel, claw, a mist bottle, seeds, kneepads, maybe even a package of fertilizer. There is plenty of room for just about anything your gardener might need. You can even add larger tools and garden clogs to the inside of the bucket, if you attach the caddy before giving the gift. One of the best things about the garden caddy is that your gardener can turn the bucket over to use as a seat for long hours working in the garden.

While the Garden Caddy might not make a pretty Valentines Day gift basket, it will be pure beauty to the serious gardener in your life.

No matter what you choose from the garden center, whether you make a small basket or a large gift, you will not go wrong for the gardener in your life this Valentines Day!
