ALT-2 Why are Jobs so Hard to Find in Todays World

From 3arf

Imagine this... You wake up one morning and begin to get ready for work. The day starts out like every other day. You take your shower, put on your make-up, and do your hair. And you look good this particular day. You encourage the kids to get ready, jump in the car, and head down the road. And just before you drop your children off for school and begin your trek to work, you make a startling realization. You Can't Stand Your Job!

Some time ago, I decided to take a job that I knew I wasn't going to absolutely love. It had appeal, just not the type of appeal to keep my complete and honest interest. I had convinced myself that the job would be good. It offered me the opportunity to expand my knowledge in my field and make me more marketable to other employers. In the long run, I was convinced, this job would lead me to future success. The fact that I had to convince myself that the job would be a good move should have been my first clue that it wouldn't be right for me.

And so I finally found myself in uncomfortable territory, realizing that I didn't like what I was doing and finding myself searching for another job. And let me express honestly how frustrating it is to realize that good jobs are not readily available, or at least they don't seem to be. It used to seem so easy to me to find a job that I would love and then begin succeeding like no tomorrow. But when your actively searching, it seems that the good jobs are only available to those who aren't in desperation to find them. If you're looking for a career or job change, and yes there truly is a difference, then it seems like the road to the job you are looking for just suddenly stretched so far that you must run a marathon with the lungs of a smoker with Emphysema in order to reach it. Sound impossible? Possibly familiar? Now, casually look for a new career or job or just ponder what it might be like to be doing something else, and the job possibilities begin to flow into your life so swiftly that you're sure they must be riding a wave right to your front door.

If there is one thing I have learned through agonizing searches and endless rejection, it is this. You must know what it is that you want to do before starting the path to find it. In order to do this, you must be able to identify what it is about your current job that you don't like, what you enjoy doing, what your strengths are, what your weaknesses are, and what jobs you find yourself dreaming of doing. Only after you ponder these characters about yourself will you feel that you are ready, really ready to start looking for your next job. It is during this time that you will find yourself falling into your new career with ease.

I've learned a lot about myself and my desires through job searches and let-downs. I've learned that I love to write, I love to be creative, I love explaining things to and helping others, and I love to have fun. None of which was included in my then current job. So I found myself going down a different path. Only this time, I had a sense of what I was looking for. Because honestly, and maybe you realized this sooner that I did, if you're looking for a new job simply because you're bored or displeased with the one your in, you'll never find the job you are looking for. Simply put, you have to know what you're searching for before you can find it.

So I encourage you to look deep down inside of yourself and find out what your really made of. You may find a person that you never in a million years thought you would find. You may find that once you define yourself, you can't believe how much potential you have. You may even find that you are interested in things you never thought you'd be interested in. At this moment, and most likely only after you get to this moment, will you be offered a key to the door of success - true, blissful success. Because in order to succeed, you have to know what it is that you want to succeed at!
