ALT-2 Website Reviews Valentinescom

From 3arf

Valentines.com is an easily recognisable website for its purpose. It provides appropriate information for Valentine's Day with easy to navigate pages. At first glance it doesn't really capture your imagination though. Yes, it is simple and nice to look at, but I would saya fraction dull. It doesn't even have a section for the history of Valentine's Day. If you are going to do a general website on Valentine's Day, surely the history is important.

It features different sections which include chocolate, flowers, jewellery, destinations, romantic dinners, and a miscellaneous section (which did have some interesting articles) which I found to be quite typical and boring. There were some good ideas though. It could really do with some extra sections to get the imagination going such as unique and creative ways to say 'I love you'.

The website is very easy to find only if you type in valentines.com. I typed Valentine's Day and valentine for a Google search and still after 5 pages I didn't come across Valentines.com.So unless you know the address, you have to search endlessly for it.

I found that it definitely needs more links attached to the site. There is one that links you to 'I love you' in different languages. Really there could be so many more links that you could click on for people's different interests.

This website is very easily navigated, you simply click on the section you would like. Pressing the back button will take you back to your previous screen and does not take you to some other unwanted site. There are no annoying pop-ups which I find heaven.

The advertising boxes (which are in dire need of advertisers), are really quite annoying. They take up too much space on each page and it tends to look more like an advertisers heaven rather than an infomative website.

The web page is rather small on the screen, and once you take into account the advertisers section, you are left with approximately one third of the screen filled with actual information on each topic.

Overall it's not a website I would keep returning to. It definitely needs more work, but it does have great potential with the right focus. There are good things about it such as the easy navigation, some interesting ideas and the general look. But it also needs more ideas, pictures, and links; less and smaller advertising boxes; larger layout on the screen; history of Valentine's Day; and a lot more sections. Come on guys, get those juices flowing and do something more unique and creative.
