ALT-2 Tips for Avoiding Easter Sweets

From 3arf

Easter is here and with it are crème-filled eggs, marshmallow bunnies, jellybeans and all of the other sweets associated with this holiday.  It may seem like you can’t go anywhere without a chocolate bunny whispering your name.  In addition, if you have kids, they are likely to receive a number of treats at school, from Easter egg hunts and from a variety of other places during this holiday.  There are things you can do to help avoid Easter sweets, however.  The following are some tips you may want to try.

Do not buy them for other members of the family

You may decide to buy them for others in your family, but say you will not have any yourself.  When they are in the house, it can be very hard to resist them.  It may be best if you do not buy them at all.  Realistically they are not healthy for anyone, and it may be the only way you can avoid the temptation.  You may want to completely avoid that aisle in the store, because even there you might not be able to resist putting a few in your cart.

Think of some healthier items to substitute instead

One way to help avoid them is to have something else sweet instead that isn’t so bad for you.  A delicious piece of fruit can be just the thing.  You can have a sweet banana, apple, orange, strawberries or any one of the other fruits out there that are sweet, delicious and far healthier than most candy.  If you want to dress up the fruit a little, then you can add a little something extra such as a tiny bit of light whipped cream or a half a teaspoon of fat free chocolate syrup.  You can also get some sort of diet dessert.  It is likely to be far healthier than your typical Easter sweet.

Think about your reasons for avoiding it

You may be trying to lose weight. You may be trying to lead a healthier lifestyle.  You may be trying to avoid health problems.  There are many great reasons to avoid Easter candy.  Even when you are near it, you can think about those reasons.  Think about the benefits you will get by not eating the candy such as being healthier and not gaining weight.

Give away those you are given

Sometimes we are given Easter sweets by a co-worker or someone else.  You may want to just pass those along to someone else.  Just because you were given them does not mean that you have to eat them.  The good thing is that candy is not an item you keep for a long time anyways, so you do not need to worry about someone asking to see it far in the future like other undesirable gifts.

It can be difficult to avoid those Easter sweets. Try the above tactics for yourself.
