ALT-2 Things to do with Dad on Fathers Day

From 3arf

Sometimes the best gift you can possibly give someone is to spend time with them.  Today especially, lots of moms and dads are working more and more hours to make ends meet, and don’t get the opportunity to spend as much time with their families as they’d like.  This Father’s Day, take the chance to show Dad how much he means to you by setting aside the day to spend with him.

There are an infinite number of ways you can pass the time with Dad on Father’s Day.  But here are just a few ideas:

[1.] Play a game.

Games are a great way to spend time together, because not only do you get to enjoy each other’s company, but you also get to bond through teamwork or competition.  Games are also a great way to involve the entire family. If your dad is the athletic type, you can try a pick-up game of basketball, football, or frisbee.  If you live near a park you can ask him to grab some softballs/baseballs and head over for some batting practice.

If your dad isn’t really into sports, there are still plenty of games you can play together.  If there’s a course around, you could play a round of mini golf.  If not, there’s you could play board games like Clue or Scrabble, or even video games like Mario Cart or something on Wii.

[2.] Have a picnic.

If there are younger kids in the family, a picnic can be a great way to spend time with Dad on Father’s Day.  The best part is that, contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to spend a lot of time preparing food.  Since it’s Dad’s day, why not have him choose his favorite take-away restaurant (subs work really great for picnicking.)  You can grab some sodas from the fridge, and voila, your picnic is prepared.  Spread a blanket out near a local park (or find one with a picnic table) and enjoy each others’ company.  Younger members of the family will like having the playground equipment nearby.  And after Dad’s done eating, he might just join in!

If you are the wife of a hardworking dad and you want to show him how much you care, you might try-

[3.] A mini vacation.

These days, it’s hard to get enough time or money to go anywhere for vacation.  But despite these limitations, sometimes there’s still the need to get away.  For Father’s Day, you could take your husband on a relaxing mini vacation.  Find a babysitter for the kids.  Take him out to dinner at his favorite restaurant, and then check into a local motel or bed and breakfast for the night.  You can enjoy all of the establishment’s facilities while having some relaxing time away together.

There are many ways to spend time with your dad or husband on Father’s Day.  The truth is that it doesn’t really matter how you choose to spend this time - the desire to do so is really what dad will appreciate.
