ALT-2 Should Hummers be Outlawed for Road Travel – Yes
Yes of course the Hummer should be banned from the road, what kind of silly question is that? Also to go the way of the Dodo are the previous incarnations of this hideous hulk of a machine. Hummers represent the part of society that hasn’t quite grown up and are still playing with their action man or G.I. Joe when nobody is looking.
What on earth possesses people to buy such a thing, except for the fact that they will be able to lord it over the other mere mortals on the roads who travel around in little tin boxes. These things are a scourge to the environment; their absolutely ridiculously low gas mileage should have them wiped from the face of the earth for a start.
Articulated lorries or trucks get better MPG. Here in the UK these cars, well army surplus vehicles masquerading as cars, are quickly becoming a menace to other road users. Not only do we have to contend with all the other brands of stupidly large 4x4 vehicles on the road here already, now we have to contend with, OH! an even bigger 4x4. They are usually driven by complete idiots with far too much money or women on the school run with absolutely no sense of direction who have previously never driven anything bigger than a go-cart. They clog up the roads, block vision of other road users and just make the driver look like a fool.
Do the people who ride around in these cars really believe that every other road user doesn’t think they are a complete imbecile? I realise that in the U.S. things are different and this kind of vehicle is much more accepted over there, but for heavens sake, its going a bit too far when you have to look to the army for the next fashion statement vehicle. They are blinged up to the eyeballs, look like Tonka toys and everything inside it looks like it was made by Fisher price Toys, being big and chunky like one of those electric cart trucks you buy for your children. This makes them look more ridiculous, and the tyres cost a fortune.
Nothing more really needs to be said. These things should be consigned to the dustbin as far as road use is concerned and sent back to where they belong, the army motor pool.
