ALT-2 Reasons to Turn down a Job Offer

From 3arf

When someone receives a job offer they are usually elated at the opportunity for work with the state of today's economy. However, there can be times when it is necessary for someone to turn down a job offer that they receive. There are also times when a person is not sure whether or not a person should accept an offer that they receive. This is when it is important to know what factors imply that you should decline a job offer.

Family is the number one thing in a lot of people's lives. This also makes it a completely reasonable reason to turn down a job offer. If you would be working numerous hours in your new job, there would be a lot less time for you to see your family. If your family is used to seeing you often it may be reasonable to turn down the job offer, unless you are severely in need of work.

A second factor that would influence whether or not you take the job would be wage or salary. There is no use in taking the job if it will not pay the amount you need to be paid. What use is taking a job if it does not give you the ability to pay your bills and be financially secure? If the job is not going to pay what you need, it may be smarter to decline the job and look for a better paying job even though you may not be ensured to get it as with the job you were offered.

Benefits can greatly increase or decrease the worth of a job. If the job you are offered does not have the benefits of another job that you may be able to get, it is probably wiser to go with the other job that offers benefits. If a job doesn't offer health care then you will have to pay for that out of your own pocket. This decreases the salary of the job you were offered, making it more comparable to other jobs that you could get. Another benefit that greatly effects the value of a job is vacation time. One job may pay more, but if you are going to be working a lot more to make a little bit more money, it may not be worth it to take the job.

There are numerous other reasons to accept or decline a job offer. These are just a few of the most common and obvious ones. In the end, it all comes down you your own decision and what you believe is best for your life. While it is your own decision, these are all very important things to consider when deciding whether or not to accept or turn down a job offer.
