ALT-2 Long Distance Love Celebrating Valentines Day from Afar

From 3arf

Valentine's Day is coming soon so it's a good time to think about what to do for your lover/spouse/significant other. It's a lot harder to show how much you care if you're in one state and your lover is in another and you can't get together for even one night. But if you would like to go the extra mile and show your loved one just how special they are-even though you can't be there in person-you will want to give something unique, thoughtful, or creative. Here are some ideas:

1) ROMATNTIC MOVIE: Both of you rent the same movie and watch it "together" while on the phone. Pop pop corn or open some wine "together" and just be toether the whole evening on the phone. After the movie, think about other fun things you might try over the phone!

2) LOVE NOTES: Buy a pretty box and write 365 love notes to your partner, one for each day of the coming year. You can find beautiful paper in scrapbooking stores, or in Michaels, in the scrapbooking area, they have packages of assorted scraps of beautiful paper. Buy some colored gel pens to write with. Then each night for the entire year, your partner will check the mail in anticipation to read your sweet, loving, sexy words. Be sure you mail the box with instructions that they can only read one love note each night!

3) FLOWERS: Send the most elaborate, amazing bouquet of flowers you can afford with a love note that is written from your heart. Send it to our lover's office so everyone there will know how much he/she is adored.

4) HOMEMADE CARD: Make a homemade Valentine. Buy pretty paper, find some gold hearts, ribbon or lace. Use gel pens, paints or colored pencil. Use your imagination and have fun!

5) SERENADE: Send your lover a tape of you singing a love song to them. You can find a local studio that will record it for you and even provide you with the music OR just sing acopella and do it at yourself at home.

6) POETRY: Compose a poem for your lover on beautiful paper. Maybe try writing it in calligraphy (You can cheat and use stencils or pens that give the look of calligraphy.) Or use your computer and print it out with fancy type. You can even frame it. If you're not much of a writer, try doing the same thing with a famous poet's love poem. Some poets of famous love poetry include, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Robert Browning, Elizabeth Browning, John Dunne, Kahlil Gibran, Rainer Maria Rilke, Pablo Neruda.

7) TROPHY: Send your lover a trophy or a certificate that says WORLD'S GREATEST LOVER or whatever you'd like it to say.

8) LATER: In addtion to any other gift idea you choose, you can also send your lover a formal invitation to join you for a romantic rendevouz to Paris (or any destination of your choice).

It's important to use your imagination and be creative if you want to convey how special your partner is to you. Something that requires thought and planning, or giving a gift that they can appreciate all year, or something you make yourself all speak a lot more deeply to your lover's heart than a box of chocolates.
