You have managed to save money by scouring the stores for bargain presents so do not spoil it all by paying way over the odds for holiday wrapping paper. Every year thousands of dollars are spent on wrapping paper that ends up being thrown into the recycling bin. Save your money and look for alternative ways of wrapping your gifts.
Everyone goes wild before Christmas and millions of expensive rolls of gift wrap are sold. But there are savings to be made in the post Christmas sales. The sales may be packed but buying rolls of wrapping paper that have been significantly reduced in price can be a big saving. Packets of wrapping paper are probably easier to store away but if buying the large rolls of gift wrap in the sales is going to save you money then you will surely find a place to hide them.
Save money by making your own gifts. Home-made jams and chutneys are always much appreciated. When it comes to gifting jars of preserves then have a hunt in your bag of cotton remnants. Cut a pretty cap cover for the jar ( use pinking shears if possible ) Place the fabric cover on top of the jar and secure it with an elastic band and that will save you using valuable wrapping paper. Soap and toiletries can be presented in the same way, saving you time and money.
In the run up to the holiday save every pretty bag or piece of paper that enters your home. Recycle gift wrap. Creased wrapping paper can be ironed over with a cool iron. Pretty paper bags can be cut open and used to wrap gifts. Sheets of tissue paper that have been used to pack clothing can also be recycled as wrapping paper. That roll of expensive gift wrap will look no better than your recycled efforts so save your money.
Pretty wallpaper can make a great gift wrap. How many of us save the remainder of a roll of wallpaper thinking that we will need it in the future. Well we will use it in the future, it will save us money on our holiday gift wrap.
Save the best idea until last. Children's toys can use up roll upon roll of wrapping paper. Instead buy yourself a roll of lining paper from the decorating store. A large roll of plain white lining paper will cost you very little. In the long run it could save you many hard earned dollars. Use the lining paper to wrap the larger toys, games and gifts. Dot an odd stick-on star here and there and write a message on the wrapping.
