ALT-2 How to Pamper your Wife on Mothers Day

From 3arf

My wife, like many women nowadays, wear more than just the hats of housewife and Mom. Jennifer is the bread winner in our family and still manages to find time to do the cleaning, some cooking, and tending to our children's needs.

I knew the one thing she loved more than anything was to have a day with no responsibility. But why stop there? Here's what we did for Mom:

First off, it was going to be a Mother's Day weekend. While Mom was at work, the house became spotless. All toys were put away and the children were ready and waiting when Mom came home to see a convertible Mustang in the front drive. Just a rental.

With the top down, the four of us just cruised. We didn't make plans for supper, but wound up stopping at a local restaurant, which happened to be her favorite. That night, I got the kids bathed, dressed and ready for bed. Then we all crawled in our King-sized bed and read stories.

The next morning, the kids were sound asleep, and back in their beds. It was our time. We had a light breakfast that I had picked up before she was awake - fresh baked muffins and cappuccino. Then I got to tell her how she could spend the rest of her day - at the Day Spa.

I splurged, and yet, we spend more money touching up scratched paint on the car. She got the works which took a relaxing four hours from the time she left the house until she got back. Her Mom had arrived from out of town, while she was out and the two of them got the evening to do whatever they wanted. By the time they got back, the kids (and grandpa) were snoozing.

My son helped me the following morning with the breakfast in bed plans where we revealed our handmade gifts, including a scrapbook with a year's worth of photos and stories of some of the events to recap. Then, she got the one gift she was asking for, a weed whacker! That's what she wanted.

So Mom spent some time in the yard after church. She and her mother took the afternoon to go shopping, before her parents had to return home. Then, we had a quiet supper with the kids and repeated our fun from Friday night.

All in all, she said it was the most refreshing and warming experience she could remember, and it gave us time together to count our blessings.
