ALT-2 How to Give a Creative and Original Valentines Day Gifts
Valentines Day the day of romance and love, is upon us. Like many people, you find yourself wanting to give a gift to your loved one. Candy and flowers are old hat everyone does that. Its time to get creative and give your special love something more than the ho hum gift of candy and flowers that everyone gives.
For Men:
When trying to be creative over the years I have come up with a few fun ideas. One year I purchased a pair of boxers, took them to the Florist. We stuffed the boxers making them look sort of like pantaloons then we put them inside a balloon that was also filled with frosting pens. My husband and the guys he worked with all got a good laugh when this was delivered and my husband knew exactly what to do with the frosting pens.
My husband loves trains so one year I made him some boxers based around the theme of "Love Train" I even made him a cute little engineer hat to match them.
Another unique gift my husband really loved was a poem I wrote about the two of us and the love that we share. It was a story of our loved all wrapped up in a poem. It was printed on a piece of paper with one of our wedding pictures as the background. It turned out really nice.
I gave him the poem by reading it to him at a Valentines banquet at church. He still has the poem and a picture of me presenting it to him.
For Women:
Some of the best gifts my husband has given me have been gifts he made himself. One year he made me a nice little card. He drew the picture and wrote the card out. I knew this was a gift from the heart and it meant more than any store bought card could ever mean.
The best gift my husband ever gave me was a hot air balloon replica. This gift was whimsical and unique. To make this gift he started with a small heart shaped basket. In the basket, he placed a teddy bear bride and groom figurine. The sand bags on the side of the basket were made by taking small heart shaped balloons and filling them with sand and tying them to the sides of the basket.
For the balloon itself, he got a nice helium valentine balloon on a stick and inserted it into the bottom of the basket, which was attached to a small board. He used ribbon to conceal the stick and to give the appearance of the ropes that hold the balloon to the basket. The finished product was attached to a piece of cardboard that was covered with cotton so that it looked like it was sitting on a cloud.
Unlike gifts of flowers, which die and candy, which is eaten, a creative gift that you make is a gift that can be enjoyed for years.
