ALT-2 Homemade Valentines Day Gift Ideas
Valentine's day is just around the corner, and with it comes a need to show your love to those you love the most. Buying a gift or a card at a store is always nice, but it's not always in the budget. Not to mention, that a gift you picked up at your local drug store, or even your closest jewelers does not require a lot of thought or preparation. There are some very nice, and romantic gifts that you can make at home for a fraction of the cost, but they cost a lot more in thought, and will mean that much more because of it.
You can make your own Valentine's day card. Start with blank cards that can be bought in bulk at your local craft store. You can buy pre-cut paper shapes, and glue them on, or you can make or draw your own design. Once you have decorated the card, put a message in there that is personalized for the recipient. You can even spritz the card with a little bit of your favorite perfume or cologne, for an extra special romantic touch.
You may be inclined to give your sweetheart a booklet of "gift" certificates. These gift certificates will be of your own making, and be gifts that you can give to your sweetheart. Make sure that these are things that you know he/she will love. You may want to include things such as an extra hour of cuddling before bed, a 20 minute massage after a hard day, or a day off from the children. Put some thought into this one to make sure that you are giving the recipient what they want, and not what you want from them.
Food is always a great romantic gift as well. You can make your own chocolate dipped fruits, or other treats. You can bake brownies, or cookies, or any other kind of treat. If you truly do not feel like you are a very good cook, you can even make rice cereal treats. If you are more savvy in the kitchen, you can make a full gourmet dinner, complete with candlelight and roses. Food may be said to be the way to a man's heart, but women are not immune to it either.
You may also want to consider making your own flower arrangements. This takes a little bit of time and talent, and preferably a flower garden, or that of a friend who is willing to help you in this endeavor. Many people choose to use roses, but you can actually use any kinds of flowers that can be cut and placed in a vase for your arrangement. Present it with a big bow and a kiss, and this can be a lovely gift.
These are just a few ideas for homemade Valentine's day gifts. There are many more things you can do as well. Just remember to think of the person you are giving your gift to, because that will determine the best gift for your sweetheart. Your homemade gifts may be the ones they remember the most in years to come.
