ALT-2 Great Gifts for 10 Year old Girls
A ten year old girl is so fun to buy for.
1 Start first collection: They are old enough to start with collectibles, and young enough for the collectibles to be Barbie dolls or porcelain dolls. Another collectible that is great to start is music boxes. You may wish to consider a Precious Moments figurine. If they develop an interest in collecting something and caring for it now, they may have a lifetime of fun adding to it.
2 First Real Make-up: Another great idea for the ten year-old is the first real make-up with a beautician's counsel to help her get it right and make her feel special.
3. Ear Piercing: If you hesitated with ear piercing like I did with my girls, this is a good time. Now they can learn to care for them properly and should. The better the experience with a first piercing the less likely they are to develop allergies to metal alloys such as nickel.
4. Books: Other great gifts for the ten year old are books such as Goosebumps, my daughter loved those. The Little House on the Prairie collection is still a favorite. And now of course the Harry Potter Books seem to be a big hit.
5. Birthstone: Get her that first birthstone ring or pendant. This is a landmark moment and a birthstone can mark it well. There are birthstone dolls as well.
6. Money or a Gift Certificate: Let her pick out and buy her own clothes for the first time. Stay near in case she wants you, but let her go and stay out of the way. Don't worry about it if she puts a plaid with a stripe. She'll figure it out later. Let her have her fun.
7. A trip to a summer camp: What is she into? It can be a theme camp such as a Religious Camp, Sport camp, Girl Scout camp; there are any number of them. If she feels ready for that first summer camp away from mom and dad, this is a great choice. Make sure to check it out for safety and supervision.
8. Trip to a theme park: Plan a family trip to Walt Disney World or Six Flags or some other theme park. Let them know it's your ten year old daughter's birthday so you can get the options of something special.
9. The all girl overnight birthday slumber party: this never goes out of style. The movies and games may change some, but mostly they stay up all night giggling, eating, watching TV, and screeching. Get plenty of sleep the day before mom and dad, you will need it.
10. Girls Choice: Give her a birthday card with a promise to give her a choice of dancing lessons, riding lessons, rock climbing, music or vocal lessons this is a great opportunity to find out her interests or let her experiment. The important thing is she starts practicing decision making skills.
