ALT-2 Fathers Day Gift
What to get dad for Father's day? For some reason it has always been more difficult to buy for Dad than anyone else in my entire family. Dad is always so aloof about what he wants, maybe he doesn't really know, or maybe what he wants I just can't afford. A 1963 Stingray Corvette, candy apple red, with black interior. If I had th money then it would be no problem, he deserves it, and who I am to stop him living his teenage dreams in his golden age.
So what can we get our Dads without breaking the bank. Well we need to figure out what it is that makes Dad happy, makes him feel not only special that you thought of it but something that says you are my Dad and I would not have it any other way. So here are some questions to ask yourself. What is it that bond you and Dad together? Other then Mom. Maybe there is a song or a movie that has special meaning for the both of you. Perhaps it is a similar interest in a sport. Or you enjoy those classic cars just as much as he does.
It was 1989 and in my opinion the greatest movie all time brought my Dad and I closer then ever, "Field of Dreams." Setting up a movie night with your Dad and favorite movie could bring back the great memories from the past and bring that bond back to the strength it once had. Add in some popcorn, his favorite candy, and a couple of drinks to make it all perfect.
FOUR! There is nothing better then a golf outing to give you and Dad some time together to chat about the old days and the new ones. All the time get frustrated because I can't hit that stupid little whit ball! That's OK though, because here comes the cart girl with some beers and you remember the real reason for coming out today. Dad.
A classic car show to bring Dad back to a time when parking at the local burger drive up was the cool thing to do and there were no other worries in the world. This is a great way to involve the entire family as well. Mom and Dad, brothers, sisters, and grandkids. We'll all get to see his face as he walks up to that 1972 Mustang, the same one he had brand new back in the day. He'll probably start talking with the owner if he is around, and you'll be able to here them trade some great old stories.
These are truly just a few ways to celebrate Father's Day with your Dad. Letting him know you cherish those special moments as much as he does is the best gift idea. How you give it is up to you.
