ALT-2 Christmas 2007 Music Gift Ideas for your Teen Girl
You'll be hard pressed to find a teenage girl who doesn't like music, so a music related gift can be a great idea for Christmas. Girls can often be picky so you need to make sure you get the right sort of gift for them, whether they are into Classical or Heavy Metal!
1)Music store gift card/iTunes gift cardAn obvious choice, but a good one all the same. Your teen girl WILL use this, so you know its going to good use. This is better than buying an actual CD because you don't have to worry about whether she wants a certain album or even already has it! You can get enough to cover one CD or if you have a bigger price range give her enough to buy a few - it's perfect for all price ranges.
2)Mp3 playerUnless your teen is ultra fashion conscious this doesn't always mean you have to rush to the nearest iPod retailer - there are several equal quality players that are often half the price, so look into those too. Of course if you know she has her heart set on an iPod Nano then go for it. She'll love it and be occupied for the rest of the day whilst you put your feet up!
3)Posters/T-shirts/Other memorabiliaI think this works if you teen is into rock music as there tends to be more of this kind of memorabilia. What better way for her to show her love for a certain band than wear them on her shirt! Posters, books and videos are all relatively cheap but will be really well received. Find them on eBay!
4)Concert ticketsThis can be very expensive so make sure you get the right band! If your teen is just a general music lover then you could go for a random band playing in your town. Getting tickets for bands like Green Day, Chili Peppers etc. can be confusing, difficult and expensive - if you can, then she'll obviously be overwhelmed! Make sure you are happy with her going on her own to a concert (or with a friend) - she won't want you there watching to make sure she's safe!
5)Signed memorabiliaThis can be easier than you think - some stars will sign pictures if you send them a letter - although it would be wise to do this well before Christmas to give them time. You could also find some things on eBay if you're lucky and don't mind splashing out a bit.
6)Microphone/instrument/Recording dayIf your teen is into the more performing side of music then she'd LOVE a microphone, or if you can afford it, a day at a recording studio. Write to a local studio to see if they'll give her a few hours, or look on the net for specific gift days which allow her to record a song and take home. Instruments are also good if you know she wants to take up the guitar/piano/drums and is a very worthwhile hobby for her to have (if not slightly headache inducing!)
These are just a selection of ideas, really the possibilities are endless. Tailor your gift - is she a music listener or performer? What kind of budget do you have? How much time do you have to get the gift? I guarantee that your teen girl will love her music-related gift, whatever you get her!
