ALT-27 What you can do to Save Money on Gas

From 3arf

As someone who neither drives, nor owns a vehicle, you could not be blamed for thinking that I am not really informed enough to offer tips on saving gas, that involve ways of driving and car maintenance. Still, although this may be true, I do purchase goods which have been transported by road, and I do travel on public, road, transport also so this means that I am a road user, of sorts. Still, though, as always, I have an opinion and it quite simply offers two basic methods of saving money on gas.

Firstly as with most products these days shopping around is essential. I notice many gas retailers have special offers, and prices can vary quite a lot. Some supermarkets offer shopping discounts when you use their gas. If you make sure that your gas is kept topped up you won't have to use the nearest, and possibly most expensive, gas station urgently. Instead when you see one that has a great offer you can take advantage of it .

Secondly, use your vehicle less. I know half of the attraction of owning your own car is the convenience of using it, whenever you want. However do you really need to jump in the car when you are only popping to the local shop?. I have neighbours who drive to shops that they could visit more quickly on foot. By the time they have negotiated the car park, and found a parking space, I can have shopped and be on my way home. Fair enough if you are buying lots of heavy items, but how many times is that not the case. A little thought could save you quite a lot of money, be good exercise for you and help the environment no end.

Having considered this subject, as I was writing, I think that also there are some basic ways that you can save money on gas. Try vehicle sharing with a friend or colleague on a regular basis and you could half your gas bills. The next time you are buying a new car or trading in your old one make sure that you know exactly how cost effective your new vehicle will be. It needs to be giving you many miles to the gallon to save you money and help the environment also.

Finally make sure that you read all the latest consumer and manufacturers advice on the best way to run your car efficiently and cheaply. These are the people who will really be able to help you save a bundle of cash without jeopardising the quality of your vehicle.
