ALT-26 What you can do to Save Money on Gas

From 3arf

With rising gas prices, and the rising costs of everything for that matter; it's no wonder why people want to save money on gas. I've come across a few things that could help you save some money!Take all the junk out of your car! You really don't need to have the tire chains, bag of kitty litter, or your golf clubs in your trunk all the time right? Of course not. Take all the excess gear out of your trunk, backseat, or bed of your truck until you need them. More weight means that the engine has to work harder to keep the car moving. This is a big saver.Don't drive so fast! I know that highway driving can be like NASCAR racing, but smooth acceleration and deceleration eases the stress on the engine and uses less gas. So, drive smooth everyone, it'll save you money.Make sure your car runs good! Properly maintaining your vehicle may seem like a chore, but your car's performance directly affects its fuel efficiency. I know a lot of people who drive their cars until they break and need fixing, costing them major bucks; and I was one of them! Getting your car serviced, or servicing it yourself regularly, will make your car run more efficiently. Therefore allowing it to have better gas mileage as well as a longer life overall!Inflate your tires. Properly! Improper tire inflation is guaranteed to drag down your gas mileage. Just one under-inflated tire will affect your gas mileage adversely. Not to mention, the wear on your tires will increase if your tires are over or under-inflated. On the whole proper tire inflation will save you money, in gas and in tires.Limit your "pleasure cruises." If you're anything like me, then a nice drive along the coast, or through the country, is a relaxing experience. But alas, these trips use lot of gas, and money. But I have an idea, find a place where you can relax, drive to it and walk around. It'll save you gas. But it comes with a side-effect. Better health.
