ALT-25 What you can do to Save Money on Gas
There's nothing you can do to save money on gas. Let's face it like your age, gas prices are always going to go up. "Ask not what you can do to save money, ask what you can do to save gas." So let's stop wasting gas driving around town trying to find the cheapest gas station and rather realize that getting the most out of your gallon is the smarter way to keep your wallet happy. My top five ways to save gas:
FIVE - Don't top off your tank! When filling your car with supreme mega premium ultra unleaded gasoline(with techron). Oh...wait, I forgot my audience. When filling your car with regular gasoline, don't wait for the gas nozzle to recoil remove the spout an inch then repeat the process three times. Each time you do that the nozzle is being stopped by a vacuum that sucks gas back into the gas line. Not only are you losing your precious gas you're making the entire gas station shake.
FOUR - In the average car using your air conditioning over 50 m.p.h. is more gas efficent than turning it off and rolling down your windows. Driving anything above that speed with your windows down will create enough wind resistance to use more gas than if your windows were up and air conditioning on. I'm not 100% sure, but sticking your head out of the window will probably add to the wind resistance as well.
THREE - Slow and Steady wins the race. When driving it's usually the faster you drive the harder the stop, which only naturally wastes more gas. Practice the art of coasting. Easy to learn, difficult to master.
TWO - Turn off your car if you're in idle for more than a minute. Unless you're the wheel man waiting to make a quick getaway, park it.
ONE - Practice common sense. Be organized and efficient. Make one trip instead of two, three, or four. Kill as many birds as you can with one stone. Save all of your errands for one day. Walk or ride your bike to close destinations, carpool, or use your local mass transportation system.
So next time you're filling up your gas tank remember, E is for empty, and F is for F#@*!7& 65 dollars? We can't afford to spend half of our paychecks on gas so use knowledge not money.
