There are a million and one way to generate money online. Sure the majority are scams or get rich quick schemes but there are some ways to make real money online. Anyone who tells you otherwise is probably the one getting rich quick.
Many opportunities do exist but due to the tremendous amount of people searching for ways to make money online in the Google search application, and the real ways are hard to find in any clear way. The internet is a constantly shifting marketplace so it definitely pays to pay be on top of the ball. Most all of them come back to being self-motivated and following through.
The biggest thing out there is MLM (or multi-level marketing). In addition there about a million variations on the standard formula, with many more abbreviations. From Paid to Click (PTC) to Paid to Posts (PTP),and many more in between. Now we all know that these systems do work. The main problem is many people don't have the determination or the experience to build a large enough downline to make any type of real money. Nine times out of ten the only people making money are the ones on top.
Writing or blogging is also another real and lucrative way to profit from the net. Nothing beats getting paid for your thoughts. After all, on the internet content is king and people need as much of it as possible. The big downside is that there are a lot of startup and fly by night operations that disappear (sometimes overnight), owing people sums of money. As always with anything do your research on the companies your thinking of writing for and make sure they are reputable and have excellent customer service.
In addition there are many call center and customer service/sales positions that are entirely web based. These are real jobs and you must be able to maintain schedule accordance and meet many other requirements. I personally enjoy at home work and am currently employed by a at home call center position and could not be happier. As I said it is a real job but I get a real paycheck. Regardless of anything else there is something to be said for stability.

No one except you, can or will make money for you. So get out there and find a project and throw yourself into it.
