ALT-1 Why it Helps to Possess Confidence in the Workplace
Why does it help to possess confidence in the workplace? Confidence means that you have a swagger to yourself, and that you believe in what you say and do. It means that when words come out of your mouth you have full faith that they will be fulfilled. Confidence is something that cannot be taught, but is bred by success and being able to back up your words with actions.
Having confidence means that you are not afraid to fail. It is the innate ability to look at a problem and not worry about not being able to solve it. Sure, you might be nervous, but you are going to attack the problem as if it is going to be solved no matter what obstacles come your way. This is the attitude that employers love to see out of their employees.
Everyone is attracted to the person who is confident. When a person has confidence, it gives others confidence. Other people in the room might not have a solution to the problem that has been presented, but if someone else sees something, it gives everyone else hope. Confidence breeds confidence. This is why being confident is so valuable.
When a person is confident, they tend to have more passion for the job that they are doing, and they tend to care more. If you expect to be the best, you will work harder to be the best. If you know that you can do better, and want to do better, you will do better. When you are confident that those goals can be achieved, it will usually happen for you.
The boss is hired to manage the office. You are hired to solve the problems that the boss cannot solve on his own, or needs help to solve. If you don't think you can do it, why should the boss hire you? What are you going to bring to the table if you come to work with a defeatist attitude and never think that you can get the job done? Would you hire you with that attitude?
Confidence is something that is needed in order to get ahead in life. Confidence breeds confidence in others, and having confidence makes others more comfortable in hiring you. The company will see that it has a go getter who believes in what is being done at the company, and that will always make you worth hiring and developing.
