Most parents have just about everything they need. This makes it very hard to figure out what to get them for Christmas. Parent’s usually tell their kids not to worry about getting them a gift, but they have always done so much for you and been there all your life so you want to get them something. The best gifts to give your parents for the holidays are gifts that are sentimental and sometimes even practical.
As parents get older much of the time, they get tired of spending a lot of time in the kitchen. They have done it for years and well, in all honesty, it is old. An excellent gift for parents is to come in and make them dinner for a week. To make it more fun and something that can be wrapped, print out some dinner coupons that they can “turn in” whenever they want to kick back and have you make their meal.
If you don’t’ like to cook, or simply do not have time, buy them gift certificates to their favorite restaurants. To make this a weeklong thing, buy them gift certificates to seven of their favorite restaurants. This might be a little too expensive so maybe just get two or three certificates. Either way they will enjoy the night out at their favorite place to eat.
A sentimental gift is a photo collage of the whole family that they can hang on their wall. If you come from a huge family, get all of the kids to contribute a picture or two.
Make a calendar of family pictures. This way they will have a calendar and pictures to treasure.
A photo album of the whole family is also a great gift for parents. Dedicate a few pages to each family. Maybe even have each family member write a memory about growing up to add to the album. They will love how you took a lot of time to put such a special gift together for them.
Another sentimental gift is a book about your life growing up with them. Involve the whole family in this one too and let the book tell a story of life in your family. There are actually internet sites where you can go and in a few simple steps, have a beautiful keepsake your parents will treasure and love forever.
No matter what you get your parents, they are your parents and will love the gift because it came from you.
