ALT-1 Valentines Day the don’t Panic Guide for Guys
How about the Valentines that some "other" guys have to buy for? Let's not beat around the bush, some of us need to know what to do and need help from the "Queer Eye for the Valentine's Guy".
These are some helpful tips for those of us who have mates or significant others of the same gender. And these few valentines gems can be used to entice the romantic bond between without necessarily having to proclaim an in-your-face "So, I'm gay!"
First: Do you enjoy outdoor activities together? A pickup game of ice hockey? Rollerblading in the park? Off-trail biking? Taking your mate on any sort of activity or nature walk is always a good way to get some together time and help strengthen the bond between. Geocaching counts here too, it's outdoorsy!
Second: A night at the local tavern. Offer to sit at the bar and get a round or two. Buy a favorite brew and sit in an atmosphere that is comfortable and familiar. Not into the bar scene? Oh, right, some of us are 'fags' (and proud)! Take him to that nicer restaraunt down the road, a meal out in a quiet table with some succulent food is a good warm up for a turn on and a spark to the romance! If you think you can get away with it, even a "I bought you a double cheezeburger home" from a fast food chain can earn you good Valentine points with your guy!
Third: Guys are less particular about chocolates, but that doesn't mean you cant go and grab a quick kit kat from a convenience store shelf. Do something a little unique like make him a milkshake. Bake a cake or brownies, or make another one of his favorite snack or dessert foods. Surprise 'em with a bowl full of popcorn!
Fourth: The need for greeting cards. Though it may sound a bit inane and silly yes, us guys like a sappy sentimental card too. Trouble is, Hallmark tends to be difficult to find a card "For my Gay lover!" Nevertheless, picking up a card and making the effort is often worth the hassle.Thank goodness also for the internet, so you might want to consider to tuck a heated adult link or picture into an email of his and see where the fun takes you from there later that night at home!
Finally: Go with your gut. YOu know your mate and your lover the best! It never hurts to ask to do something together, even if he says "I'll let YOU decide!" then go ahead and DO that, if it makes him happy!
