Valentine's Day. The one day of the year we go out of our way to show someone that we love them. It is a very romantic opportunity for that one day to make someone feel special.
We all get busy in our lives. We have those that we love and we tell them. We take opportunities throughout the year to love others. But we get busy. We take those that we love for granted. We are late for Birthdays. They forgive us. We forget anniversaries. They cry that we don't love them anymore or they suffer in silence. We get our loved ones a toaster for Christmas or tools for their car. We ask ourselves, " Were has the romance gone?". The gifts that we give are useful. They might be just what the other person wanted. They are given in love. But they are not romantic. They don't make the other person feel desirable or sexy.
We all want more in our relationships. Valentine's Day brings more to our lives. That one day to be romantic and mushy. To get something sexy to wear and go out to dinner. To give flowers that you might not think of otherwise. Valentine's Day brings out the love in all of us. You cannot avoid the romance all around you. People go out of their way to plan a special evening. A candlelight dinner, soft music and no children. Just the two of you. You turn the phone off if you are home. You stay in the whole night being together for the first time since last year.Intimacy comes easier tonight. Love shines everywhere. In her eyes. In his embrace. In their voices as they talk softly. Face it, Valentine's Day for most, is the one time in the while year to plan for and look forward to.
You can be someone different on Valentine's Day. The expert lover, the beauty Queen, the most handsome man in the world in your partners eyes. Valentine's Day is very romantic and we like to make the most of it. We are forgiven for a years worth of sins on Valentine's Day. We can show our children how much we love them too. That is not a romantic love but it is special too. We should show anyone we love how special they are to us.
So take the time on Valentine's Day to be romantic. A single rose or carnations. Candy or stuffed animals. Simple or elaborate. Do what you can. Think creatively and be the romantic person you are meant to be. Do something you might not otherwise do. Cook for your spouse or do the laundry. Wash his car. Leave love notes around for them to find. You will find with a little effort and love that the romance will just flow.
