ALT-1 The best Gift Certificates for Dad on Fathers Day
Every year it’s the same old same old for poor Dad on Father’s day, as he opens yet another pair of socks or a tie, and pretends to be thrilled. One of the socks inevitably disappears in the washing machine, and Dad hates to wear ties and ends up using it to polish the car wing mirrors instead of wearing it. Yet the same rigmarole continues year after year, as your wrack your brains to think of something less boring. Dad assures you he wants nothing, but you remember the year when you believed him and caught him crying in the potting shed.
Gift certificates are the perfect solution to gifts for Father’s day, and you can purchase ones from shops which sell both socks and ties, so Dad can have the opportunity to choose his own, most probably for the first time ever. The world of gift certificates allows you to break away from ties and socks altogether and become daring. If Dad has a hobby it’s much easier to select a certificate he can use, rather than risking buying something he’s already got in his tackle box, if fishing is his thing.
As presenting a gift certificate can appear to be a last minute thoughtless thing to give which saved you the bother of a shopping trip, you need to put some effort into identifying something suitable for Dad. If he’s expressed an interest in trying something new but still hasn’t got round to it, this is your chance to give him a bit of a push. If you want to get Dad out of the house more, then you can give certificates which will get rid of him for a few hours at a time.
Gift certificates are available for those things Dad probably wouldn’t bother arranging for himself, and include a day at the beauty parlour, the massage parlour or the local Turkish baths. Dad probably deserves a day of pampering.
If Dad is getting a tad boring and set in his ways how about certificates for driving a racing car, going up in a hot air balloon, or even a helicopter jaunt. These are all quite different and would give Dad something to talk about afterwards.
Perhaps he has a yen to take up ball room dancing or salsa lessons, Japanese cookery or growing orchids. There are gift certificates for everything these days and he can get a taster before committing himself further.
The only real problem with a gift certificate for Dad for Father’s day is the constant reminders you will need to give to Dad to get him to actually use them before they expire. Of course you could always buy an extra one for yourself and go along with him on his jaunt, even if it just turns out to be to the sock and tie shop together.
