ALT-1 The Surprising Number of Americans who have actually Worked at Mcdonalds

From 3arf

Who has never worked at McDonald's? The response to that would be a surprisingly low number. I was in fact a shift manager at McDonald's for over three years. You would really be surprised at the high turn over rate that a national fast food restaurant incurs on a daily basis. In a single six month period I could have counted the number of employees on one hand that had been there from the time I started.

It was a very tedious and time consuming job. People came and went with the ease of opening and closing a door. There are a few people who really stand out in my mind. I came to work side by side with and ex chip and dale's dancer. He was an outstanding dancer, but really did not qualify for the position of shift leader in my opinion. Then there was a young girl with down syndrome. She wasn't the typical handicapped person. She was actually very good at her job and the smile on her face could light the dimmest of moods.

There were so many people from all walks of life, nationalities, sexual orientations and religions that worked with me. We even had a young gentleman that worked with me that believed in his religion so strongly that he had to be let go. It is one thing not to eat meat, it is another all together to boycott the very job that is paying your bills. He is the one that stands out the most. I remember listening to him on the drive-thru speaker telling people to drive to the window to pay for their dead cow. He would also tell them to drive to the next window to pick up their dead cow and to have a nice day.

Some people might find this funny, but it really was not the right place to be saying those kinds of things. There are so many faces that I remember and one special girl in particular. She befriended my son, who had Leukemia. She would always make a special point to stop by my house to see him before each shift and visit him at the hospital.

From cooks, cashiers, shift leaders, shift managers, assistant managers and store managers I would say that you never know who you will find working at McDonalds. You never know the story behind them taking the job, you just have to remember that at least they are trying.
