ALT-1 Spring Cleaning Ideas for your Car
Ever notice how your vehicle seems to drive like a dream after it get's a good cleaning? It feels like a brand new vehicle! So, get ready for a luxurious driving experience once again. You have dealt with the dirt, mud, and grime all winter long. Spring has sprung, and clutter has overtaken your vehicle. This is the perfect time of the year to thoroughly clean your vehicle inside and out. We all tend to put off the daunting task because of the cold weather through the winter months. We are all guilty of thinking , "It's just going to get dirty again, might as well wait." We do, and then we wish we had not waited so long to clean it.
Here are a few ideas to get your vehicle back into shape again.
1) Get a trash bag for disposal. Clear out all of the trash, coats, clothing, junk mail, etc..
2) Dust off and clean your dashboard and all plastic surfaces. Use a bristled brush or old toothbrush to clean vents and crevices that are hard to clean with a cloth.
3) Clean and shine all windows on the inside from front to back. Newspapers are great to clean windows without leaving streaks and smears.
4) Vacuum the seats and entire carpet area thoroughly.
5) Upholstery takes a lot of abuse from accidental spills creating stains. Use an upholstery cleaner to remove stains and freshen the interior seats and carpet. Leave doors open to air dry thoroughly.
6) Remove the old air freshener and replace it with a new one.
7) Wash the outside of your vehicle with a car wash cleaner. Don't forget the wheels and tires. Grime and dirt is especially built up on the wheel crevices. Dry with a soft cloth.
8) This is the perfect time to wax your vehicle for the coming hot months. It will prevent your paint from fading and add a layer of protection from the elements. Apply wax in a circular fashion, let dry, then using a soft cloth, remove thoroughly.
9) Clean all windows on the outside from front to back.
10) If there is white lettering on your tires, use a tire bleach or dishwashing liquid . Scrub with a scouring pad. Apply a no-rinse tire cleaner for a finished polished look.
