ALT-1 Spa Gift Ideas for Mom

From 3arf

When reflecting upon my favorite Mother's Day memories I must confess that it I do not remember the breakfasts in bed, the beautiful accolades or even the flowery cards. Please do not misunderstand, I cherish every card that my children have blessed me with and I keep each and every art piece that they have crafted. But truth be told, as each and every Mother's Day nears I find myself wasting many precious moments fanaticizing about spa treatments.

You see, I would not trade motherhood for the world, but my hands are dry, my toenails unpolished, my backaches and my skin, well lets not go there. If Mother's Day is truly the one holiday that is all about me, Mom, then can I please go to the spa? If you want to cook me dinner when I get home that would be great, but please let me go away to the spa by myself for just this one day. So it is with this one plea I give you a list of the spa treatments that I would choose.

A Massage:

Just the sound of a good massage relaxes me. While massage treatments can be expensive, they do not have to be. There are a couple of affordable ways to score an affordable massage for your wife or mother. There are some very affordable chain stores that just offer massage. These stores usually offer prices starting at around $45.00 for one hour of massage.

Another affordable route is to purchase a foot or back massage certificate. These specific massages can be much more reasonably priced than a full body massage. Is there a local school of massage in your town? These schools often offer spa quality massage treatments for half the cost that they would be in a normal salon.

A Pedicure:

Some mothers may prefer a manicure, but I personally prefer pedicures. Pedicures are quite affordable usually starting around $18.00. Pedicures start with a warm relaxing foot soak in a mini hot tub followed by a short foot massage and nail treatment. The whole procedure leaves you feeling very relaxed and your feet quite polished looking.

A Gift Card To Bath And Body Works:

I rarely have the time or extra money to stop at the mall to shop for spa supplies, but when I do I love to visit Bath and Body Works or The Body Shop. A gift card to one of these stores would make my day. The yummy bath gels, scrubs and lotions turn my short-lived time in the shower into a mini spa retreat.

A Day At The Spa:

My oldest child cried seemingly non stop for the first ten months, so you can imagine the joy on my first Mother's Day when my husband presented me with an ala carte gift certificate to the day spa. He went to a local day spa that came recommended by a lady in our church and purchased a $150.00 gift certificate that was good for whatever spa treatment I chose. The spa had a menu of services to choose from and I was able to use my certificate for a facial treatment, pedicure and massage. I felt like a queen.

An Overnight Trip To The Spa:

When was the last time your wife or mother had a good nights sleep let alone a spa treatment? I have to confess that every year this is my secret Mother's Day wish. There are several hotels that offer special spa packages this time of year. These packages usually include a one night hotel stay, one spa treatment and breakfast the next morning. You are also free to use the pool and hot tub while you are there. Why not give mom a night away at the spa this Mother's Day?
