ALT-1 Reasons to go for a Walk before a Job Interview

From 3arf

Before going for a job interview you usually feel tense and nervous. Unfortunately, if you are unable to keep your anxiety in check you could find  your performance in the interview room suffers as a result, thus affecting your chances of landing the job. You therefore have to find a way to calm down and chill out before an interview so you don’t enter the interview room in a panicky state. You may not feel like doing any exercise on the morning of the big interview, but you could find something as simple as walking really makes you feel better.

Thus, you have to make sure you get up nice and early so you can either take the dog for a walk in the park or around the block or so you can go for a walk by yourself or even walk to the interview. You may decide you would prefer to drive to the interview, fearful you’re going to be late if you walk. However, if you drive to your interview you will have to contend with traffic and finding a parking space. In the end, it may even be quicker and more convenient to simply walk to the venue where the interview is being held.

Whether you go for a walk before setting off for your interview or you walk towards your interview you have an opportunity to go through possible questions you could be asked and ways you could respond to them. You’ve probably gone through a selection of questions and answers in your head a million times already, but a few times more won’t hurt and you will feel more confident if you are actually asked any of those questions you’ve being thinking about.

Plus, walking can be an effective way to relieve stress, since chemicals are released into your body that leave you feeling more upbeat and you will also feel more alert and energised. This is all good for your interview, as you will be able to come across as positive and confident, rather than seeming to be preoccupied with your nerves. Obviously, this is what employers want to see and so you will hopefully be able to perform to the best of your abilities.

When you have a job interview to go to all you can think about is what to wear, what to say, and generally how to make a good impression. You try not to think about how nerves can make the whole interview process more difficult, but if you manage to take action beforehand you will hopefully be able to stay in control of your emotions. Walking is one of the ways you can do this.
