ALT-1 Reasons to Send a thank you Card after a Job Interview
There are several good reasons to send a thank-you card after a job interview. Sending a card showing your enthusiasm and gratitude will help you get noticed by the interviewer, as-well as reminding them about good attributes you have that may sway the interview process in your favor. A thank you card is recognition that you afford the interviewer respect, and are keen to hear from them.
Standing out from the crowd
Most decent jobs have many applicants, all attempting to bag the same position. It makes sense to give an interviewer extra reference material about yourself in this way, so your interview is remembered above others where people didn't bother with a thank-you card.
To help the interviewer picture you as they read your card, attach a passport sized color photograph of yourself, and be sure to include contact details to save your prospective new employer time if they decide to call you. It's best to send an actual card rather than an email if there's plenty of time available. However, if a new employee is needed fast, it's fine to send an email containing the same information.
Attributes
Attributes that make you perfect for the job should be reiterated in your thank-you card. This way you can remind the interviewer about them, while adding in any after-thoughts that are relevant.
Enthusiasm
Another good reason to send a thank-you card after a job interview is to let the interviewer know you really want the job, and aren't wasting their time. By bothering to send a polite post interview follow up card, you'll show the interviewer you mean business and are ready for affirmative action.
Manners
Just by having good manners you can set yourself head and shoulders above some other interviewees, who are not so mindfully polite. Let it be known in the card you enjoyed the interview process, and are grateful for the time given, as-well as being excited by the prospect of joining the business as an employee.
Work ethics
Inform the interviewer you'll put in a lot of effort for the company if hired, and have strong work ethics. Tell him or her you like to achieve success in any undertaking.
Sending a thank-you letter will make you stand out above other applicants. It will help you to appear professional, willing, polite, and above all able to fulfil the position offered with enthusiasm and determination.
