ALT-1 Non Traditional Weddings Alternatives to Flower Girls
There are many non-traditional weddings taking place nowadays, and as many alternatives to flower girls being used.
Some people think it is lovely to be taken down the aisle by your father and to be accompanied by your bridesmaids and to walk behind a dear little flower girl sprinkling rose petals for you to walk on, but it's not to everyone's taste.
If your wedding theme is exotic or unusual, a flower girl just wouldn't fit in. Or perhaps you don't know any little girls who would be suitable and don't want a stranger just brought in for the day. I understand that completely. It is your day, and you should be surrounded by those you love.
Here are some ideas for alternatives to a flower girl.
DOGS
If you are a dog lover, why not have someone lead your pets down the aisle for you to follow? Tie them with ribbons and decorate their collars and it will look almost as if you are traveling in a pony and trap.
SNOW PRINCESS
For a winter wedding, you could have a snow princess instead of a flower girl. She could sprinkle silver and white snowflake confetti in your path.
JESTERS/TUMBLERS
You could follow a troupe of jesters to the altar, or tumblers cartwheeling in front of you.
MUSICIANS
If you have musical friends they could process in front of you, playing and/or singing.
CANDY GIRL
The girls could throw candy to the congregation instead of strewing petals.Make sure not to use hard candy that could hurt people!
BALLET GIRLS
If your nieces do ballet, get them to pirouette down the aisle.
