ALT-1 Mothers Day Gifts Kids can Make themselves

From 3arf

Mother's Day is the one special day in the year that children are really able to celebrate the special role that their mother's play in their lives. This means that Mom can be pampered on this special day of the year. However, most mothers will treasure a gift that their children made themselves more than something that was purchased from the store. These are some ideas of special and unique gifts that children can make themselves to present to their mother of Mother's Day.

Decorative Flower Pots

Mom will love these one of a kind flower pots that their children have created for them. The materials that are required for this craft are: a flower pot, paint, paint brush, pencil, markers, assorted colors of construction paper, scissors, pictures of the child, glue, potting soil and a small plant that can be transferred into the flower pot. Start by painting the flower pot a color that mom will enjoy. While the painted flower pot is drying, children can draw flower shapes on construction paper with the pencil and then they can cut them out. Next, children might need help with this step, cut the centers out of the flowers (these will be used to frame the pictures that are used for the craft). Glue pictures onto the back side of the flowers with the faces serving as the center of the flowers. When the painted flower pot is dry, glue the flowers onto the flower pot. Finish the decoration of the pot by drawing stems and leaves onto the flowers with markers. Gently place the plant into the flowerpot and secure in place with potting soil.

Fingerprint Cards

There is nothing more unique about a person than their fingerprints and there is not simple gift that a mother will treasure more than preserving their ever growing fingerprints on a handmade Mother's Day Card. To create these one-of-a-kind Mother's Day cards, materials needed are construction paper, acrylic paint, paintbrush (optional) crayons or markers and a paper plate. Begin by folding construction paper in half. Children will now write their unique message to mom on the inside of the card. Now the front of the card will be decorated, pour a small amount of different colors of paint onto a paper plate. Children will stamp their fingers into the paint and will then stamp the front of the card with their fingerprints. One very unique idea for this type of card is for the child to use different parts of their hand to stamp the word love onto the card. Using the thumb and pointer finger, form the shape of an L. Paint this part of the hand and stamp onto the construction paper. For the letter O, children will form an O shape with their hand. The O shape will then be painted and they can stamp this next to the L. For the letter V, form a letter V with the pointer finger and middle finger, paint this and stamp onto the page. Finally, for the letter E, stamp the pointer finger onto the page. Then paint the top section of the finger and use that to stamp the three arms off of the E.

Collage Trinket Box

These are a beautiful way for Mom to store her treasures and to be reminded of her children at the same time. For this box, you will need a small wooden box, glue, beads, buttons, sequins and ribbon. Children can use these items to creatively decorate the box for their mother. An additional option for decorating these boxes is to paint them and allow it to dry before decorating the box with the craft supplies. Children will be very happy to give their mother a gift on Mother's Day that they've created themselves and Mom will be thrilled to store her treasured possessions in these boxes.

Gifts from the heart will be the gifts that Mom will treasure the most from Mother's Day. All of the crafts that are mentioned above are great ideas of crafts that children can make themselves. However, depending upon the age of the child and their interest in crafting, there are many other handmade gifts that children will be able to make on their own to give their mother on Mother's Day.
