ALT-1 Kids Activities for Valentines Day
Valentine's isn't just for lovers. Everyone, including kids, can enjoy Valentine's Day. So what can children do? There are many fun activities that will make this Valentine's Day fun for both you and your children.
CraftsChildren love making crafts. Pick up some colored construction paper, glue, glitter, scissors, and markers or crayons. Help your children make Valentine's decorations and crafts. These decorations can be used throughout the house to create the perfect family Valentine's Day. Hearts, arrows, cupid, and flowers are all great ideas for children to design.
FoodLet your child help you bake for Valentine's. Kids love to help their parents cook. Let them mix up a batch of cookies, add pink or red food coloring, and cut them out into hearts. You can also use Jell-O molds to create jiggly Valentine's treats. Simply letting them help make some of their favorite desserts will help them enjoy Valentine's Day. Remember, making a mess is half the fun. After all, Valentine's Day is really about spending time with the ones you love.
Make Valentine's For OthersMany schools allow students to give each other Valentine's cards. You can buy these at most stores, but letting your child make their own is a lot more fun. Provide them with paper, crayons, markers, and anything else they might need to make their own unique Valentine's greetings. These can be given to friends and family. There are also kits that allow them to create purses, picture frames, and key chains. With a little creativity with colors, all these gifts can have a Valentine's theme. Kids will love being able to make their own Valentine's presents and their recipients will love them as well.
PartiesDon't forget about a simple Valentine's Day party. Many schools have parties during the day. Bake some cupcakes, buy some candy, make some red Kool-Aid or punch, and invite their closest friends over. Make Valentine's special for them by letting them have a fun night with their friends. Provide some fun activities based on age. Music, crafts, video and board games, and even a Valentine's related treasure hunt are sure to make your child's party a success.
