ALT-1 Inexpensive Gift Ideas from a Single Mom

From 3arf

A single mom must be both mother and father most or all of the time; therefore, she must work, cook, clean, etc. Because of all these activities and the very great responsibility of taking care of the children, most single moms are exhausted by the end of the day when it is time to cook, so one of the best gifts is a gift card to a restaurant or a fast food place. This will allow her to spend more quality time with the children during and after the meal.

Not all working single moms make enough to be able to take their children out for a meal, but if, when purchasing gifts for a single mom, a person considers the many responsibilities pressing on a mother who has to do triple duty or even more, one will see that such a gift would probably be greatly appreciated and extremely useful. Besides, not only adults enjoy eating out once in a while.

Another nice, thoughtful gift for a single mother is a box of birthday cards and a book of stamps; especially if she lives at a distance from her siblings or other family members. As we all know, stamps are at a premium price and are an extra expense that is also often necessary in order to pay bills unless one is able to pay all of her bills on line. Or, if one plans to spend more than ten dollars, he or she could buy a box of cards and a roll of stamps. I know that is a gift that I would greatly enjoy because I really like to write letters and keep in touch with a number of people and, as mentioned previously, stamps are very expensive.

Many people like to send flowers because one can easily get on line and order the flowers and not have to bother mailing anything or going out and buying a gift then delivering it. However, flowers don't last very long and sometimes people are very allergic to various types of flowers, and can not bring herself to inform the one who sent the flowers of the allergy.

I'm sure that any gift card would be appreciated, but there are some that come to mind that would probably be more appreciated than others. One of those would be to a super market or grocery store such as Kroger, H.E.B., Food King, etc. As expensive as groceries have become, that would be a most welcome gift and one that she could use at any time for any number of things besides groceries.

And, yet, another idea would be to give a gift card to a specialty store such as a quilt or candle shop or some other specialty item store that the single mom might not have the extra money for such a purchase as a new quilt of an expensive candle. These kinds of things mean a great deal to some women and are things that they often will not purchase for themselves even if they do have the money because it makes them feel guilty for spending money on themselves instead of their children.

And, one that would be greatly appreciated at this time since gasoline and diesel are so very expensive would be an oil company gift card or a grocery gift card where gasoline is sold, especially if the single mom has to drive very far to work.

All in all, money is a good gift, but seems to be less personal than taking the time to select a gift card of some type or a present such as stamps and cards. But, if they are like I am, I appreciate any gift that is given to me because I know that the person giving the gift cares enough to spend time and money to get me something.
