ALT-1 How to Put Snow Tires on your Car
Putting snow tires on your car should be pretty easy especially if you have the right tools and know how to do yourself. Changing your tires before the winter sets in is crucial as way of preventing accidents.
If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, then putting snow tires on your car should be easy. You can put snow tires on your car in the following steps mentioned below.
Step 1
You must identify a flat, dry and safe to change the tires from. Choose a location where you car can't roll as a safety measure.
Step 2
Have the four snow tires nearby.
Step 3
Remove the hub caps of the tires on your car
Step 4
Using a spanner,loosen the nutsthat secure the tires in place, turn the nuts in a clockwise direction. Don't loosen the nuts completely.
Step 5
Place the car jack under the car, making sure that the jack is positioned in front of the mark and that it is gripping the car firmly.
Step 6
Once you are confident that the jack is in a firm position, turn the crank of the jack and raise the tire from the ground. Raise the tire high enough to pull it towards you afterwards. A distance of about 20 Centimeters above the ground should be high enough.
Step 7
Remove the nuts from the tire and pull of the tire. Put the nuts in a box so that you don't loose them.
Step 8
After you have removed the regular tire, you can now place the snow tire on the hub.
Step 9
Put back the nuts and tighten them using your fingers and spanner by turning them in a clockwise direction until they are tight. Be careful not to use force when tightening the nuts because you could tamper with the balance of the car jack causing it to fall down and cause an injury.
Step 10
Gently lower the car by winding up the jack and tighten the nuts as much as possible before placing back the hub caps.Repeat the same steps for the remaining tires until you have put all the snow tires on your car.
Make sure that you tighten the nuts well before you lower the car to avoid any lose tire which can cause you to have an accident. You definitely need snow tires during the winter season for safe driving.
