ALT-1 How being Goal Oriented can help your Career

From 3arf

Are you looking for a sure-fire way to get your career where you want it to be? A good idea is to have solid goals and then go after them. Being goal oriented is a great way to make sure that your career not only stays on track, but is able to flourish as time goes on. What are some of the benefits to being goal oriented in your career?

A great benefit to this is that you know where each job will fit into the larger scheme of things. You won't simply be wandering around looking for a job simply because it is easy, or that the money is good. It isn't to say that you will never do this, but you will understand how that could impact, or derail, your career goals as a result. This will help you plan out which jobs you want, and which ones you can pass on.

When you are goal oriented, you are staying in control of your career. You won't let others convince you that a job is worth taking simply because it fits their agenda. You will be able to look at the job being offered and see if it fits with your own agenda. This always works to your advantage because you are the one who is making your career decisions. Never let someone else guide you against your will.

It really shows though when you have goals in your career. You are able to speak more passionately about your purpose and mission at work. You won't simply show up and collect a paycheck because you know that doing well now will fulfill a larger goal. This is a plus for management because they know they will get someone who is energized and enthusiastic in their job. You don't get that out of everybody.

A goal oriented person is always looking ahead and is always motivated. The goal oriented person won't let a bad day get them down, or a poor co-worker situation get them off track. They know that this is simply one step toward what they want and that their destiny is still in their own hands. A motivated employee is typically one who gets ahead in life.

If you want career success, you should have goals before you start. It will keep you focused and in control of your own career. Who wouldn't want that for themselves? Having goals will also keep you focused and motivated which will help you out in more ways that you can imagine.
