ALT-1 How a Headhunter can help you look for a Job
A headhunter otherwise known as a recruitment consultant or agency is there to help you find a job. Why? Because that is what they are paid to do.
A headhunter is recruited by the company that hires it to look for potential employees. Once they have done this they are paid by the company that hired them so it is in their best interest to find the right candidate for the right role.
To get started with a headhunter do some research. They are not all the same. Some specialise in administration, while others specialise in scientific roles, labour or management. Once you have found the agency or agencies that are relevant to you give them a call and make an appointment to see them.
Allow approximately two to three hours for this appointment and dress as though you are attending a job interview as they will be looking at how you present yourself to their clients.
During this interview they will get you to fill in some forms and then face a series of tests. If you are looking for a clerical role you will have to do typing and computer proficiency tests. Once you have done this they will interview you.
Now what's great about this is that they know their clients and they know what interview questions their clients are going to be asking so this we be great interview practice. They will have roles that you are suitable for in mind and send you off to interview for them. Because you have gone through a headhunter you are more likely to get the role as you will be familiar with what the company is looking, how they will interview you and the role you are applying for.
This is the process of going through a headhunter when looking for a job. It's very simple and many of the jobs a headhunter may have on file are not advertised through normal channels. The greatest benefit in using a headhunter in your job search is the number of contacts they have.
A headhunter is a wonderful resource for job seekers and it would be amiss not to use one however don't use just the one, use a few different agencies as well as the more traditional channels so that you find more job opportunities and better pay scales. Sometimes a couple of headhunters will ahve the same jobs with different benefits offered.
