ALT-1 Holiday Gifts for Homeowners who have everything

From 3arf

The worst part about the holiday season is figuring out what to get people. Will she wear this, will this fit her, will he play with this, do they even like this type of thing? The questions are endless!

Then, you get to the last person on your list that isn’t yet scratched off, and you are stuck. You sit there at the table with no clue in the world, on what to get these people. It seems like they have everything in the world already, giant house, nice cars, fancy clothes, a cellar full of wine, they could practically run a toy store out of their house, and they have every single game for all of the latest gaming trends.  What do you do? Well my friends, there is good news and there is even better news coming your way.

Good news: Not one person in this entire world has everything. The better news?  There are tons of homemade gift ideas that are easy, cheap, and highly appreciated by most. I know homemade gifts sound super cheesy and everybody thinks they are hard and people will hate them.

Nowadays you can make just about anything, and they are really neat ideas, economically sound, and easy! For example: did you know you can make your own laundry soap, of any scent? To me, that is really cool and I never knew that until a friend of mine actually gave me some this year for my birthday.

However, you could do a lot of things and make them into a gift basket, that way you have a less likely chance of somebody thinking that you just think they stink and are giving them soap as a hint, ha-ha. Homemade (or store bought) candles, laundry soap, non perishable food items are all easy, fun, inexpensive ideas.

Did you know that you can actually make your own chocolate sauce? You know the stuff you put in milk, and on ice cream. Not only would it be a great gift, but then while you are trying it out for the first time you get to reap the delicious benefits as well! This could all go into one of the most talked about and wanted gift baskets on earth! This year, just get creative and try new things and you might be surprised in yourself.

Maybe you have no time, or you aren’t creative what so ever, or maybe you just don’t like the idea of homemade things. Everybody has a hobby, whether it be scrapbooking, candle making, stamp collecting, photography, journalism, reading, etc.  Within each of those hobbies, and millions of others, there is always a gift to be given.

Scrapbooking

Make them a small, fun, creative photo album of them. You can convince their family to give you some pictures of them if you don’t have any, or there is always facebook you can turn to, everybody has one these days.

Candle making and photography

Make them something, a decorative candle, or one of their favorite scents.  Give them a free photography session, or take some really amazing pictures of them “just because you need the practice” and then make a collage that they can cherish.  Or better yet, take some of their kids, people love pictures of their kids and will definitely love that. If you enjoy reading try giving them one of your favorite books, or a book you think they would like. Or get two new books, one for you and one for them and tell them you can read them together and have a fun little book club.

Put the spirit back in to the holidays! Make that old saying come true again; “it’s the thought that counts”. Plus as a bonus, if you have children this is a wonderful thing to get them in the habit of expecting homemade gifts, that way when you do splurge on nice things they truly do appreciate it. We all know that the economy is tough, so try a few new things, be adventurous, and save some hard earned money.
