ALT-1 Great Fathers Day Gifts for first Time Fathers

From 3arf

A duty free day, in every sense of the word, would be the perfect gift for first time fathers. Any father who is willing to pitch in every once in a while, will definitely appreciate a day off. Some mothers may wonder if there are any such willing fathers, as they are not so fortunate to have them in their homes, but they do exist. For the rest of you, I suggest saving your cries for help for just one day (Just remember, the next day all bets are back off).

If you're looking for something home-made, I recommend a gift that shows how much he means to you, like a gift certificate to spend a day with his friends doing whatever it is they do. Try something like this....A round of golf, so you can slack off, a day on the green, cause that's how much you mean. It doesn't have to rhyme or even be more than a piece of paper saying that he gets a guys day (preset dates usually work best, so you both agree on it and it doesn't cause problems later). Of course if he hates golf you should try something that suits his tastes. Maybe an evening playing video games or poker with his friends would better suit him.

I once saw a shirt that said something along the lines of 'Fatherhood is the hardest job you'll ever love', a printed t-shirt with a similar message would be often worn by many a proud first time father. There is also the '#1 dad' shirt that is often seen on fathers even after it's faded and worn. Most dads love to show off the fact that they have the highest privilege a man could have.

First time fathers often love a CD of their favorite music, a movie they've wanted in their collection, or a video/computer game they have long desired. Anything that tells them that they are still allowed some down time to be themselves would work. If they like to work out, some gym equipment, if they like to build things, a new tool or replacement, or a car parts store gift certificate for the auto lover.

If he is a coffee drinker, a mug with his baby's picture on it might be just the thing. If he likes being outdoors, maybe a little cooler to put beside his lawn chair or hammock would put a smile on his face. Any first time dad might love a day with his new family, just learning about each other and growing closer.

Anything you give to a first time father should show them that being a dad is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling things a man can do in his life. Tell him how much he means to you and your baby and that he will be a wonderful father. You just can't go wrong with showing him love and appreciation.
