ALT-1 Great Christmas Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Seniors
Great Christmas stocking stuffers for seniors are easy to find if you really know the senior who's stocking you're stuffing. The more you know about a person, the easier it is to find gift's they'll use and love.
Most seniors have more stuff than they know what to do with, so consider giving them items that will be used up or can be passed along when they're finished with them.
Here are some ideas:
A gift card for their favorite store
A Magazine Subscription (you can put a note about this in their stocking)
Crossword, word search or number puzzle magazine
Specialty Tea Bags
A few really good chocolates (individually wrapped)
Travel sizes of lotion (or anything travel size) for traveling seniors.
A quality pen or pencil
A tin of mints
A small calendar with the days you promise to visit marked on them (keep the promise!)
A packet of Heirloom or special seeds for the gardening senior
Small photo frames or photo magnets
Postage Stamps
Write a letter telling them what they mean to you or share memories and roll it up and tie it with a ribbon (letters are becoming a rare and precious gift)
If you have the funds - an MP3 player filled with their favorite music.
Mittens or gloves (if the Stocking is large enough)
A rosary for Catholic Seniors - or holy medal, or Mass Card
Non-skid socks
A small eyeglass repair kit or sewing kit
A small flashlight (maybe one for their key ring)
A tiny tape measure (I carry one of these on my key ring)
Garden Gloves
A small field guide - birds, butterflies, insects, fungus - whatever you think they're interested in.
A compass (for hikers)
A pedometer (for walkers)
Small supplies for their hobby - art, crafts, sewing, gardening, etc.
Bath Salts Cubes (these can be powerfully scented, so may not mix well with food items in the stocking).
Fancy Glasses strings (if they use them)
Reading Glasses (I'm always losing mine) Usually 2.0x magnification works best
Sunglasses
Scarves
Lipstick or lip balm
Sunblock
The key is to know what your senior likes or dislikes (I.e. scents, colors, flavors) and you can't go wrong. I hope this article has inspired you to come up with some ideas of your own as well.
