Many people believe that shopping for a young lady nearing adulthood is no easy feat, as it is a popular assumption that young women are a demanding demographic to shop for. Whether this is true or not is neither here nor there, however. Rest assured, shopping for girls between the ages of sixteen and eighteen is not as difficult as it may seem if you know what your options are. The following are gift considerations for that special girl.
Gift Suggestions for Women Ages 16-18
1. What does she like?
If the young lady is a friend or close family member, then you should know what she enjoys. By knowing what she enjoys, you are one step closer to getting her the perfect gift. Simply get creative. What is her favorite television show? Get her a season of it on DVD if she doesn’t already have all the seasons. Does she enjoy concerts? Is her favorite singer going on a concert tour? If she is indeed starting college, it would be a really nice gesture to buy her college textbooks for her (or just one or two of them). Textbooks are normally really expensive, and any college student would appreciate a gift like that. Is she moving into her own apartment? Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. This is a famous expression for a reason. No matter what age, women usually love jewelry. Don’t let the word ‘diamonds’ scare you away from this option either. Bath and Body Works sells these gift baskets that contain scented creams and perfumes. Fairly inexpensive at only about $25, this is another idea to consider!
5. Gift certificate:
If you aren’t exactly sure what to get this girl, but you want to get her something she’ll enjoy, gift certificates are a great choice. Not only will she be able to pick her own gift (ensuring that she’ll enjoy it), but you will also have your chance to get creative and choose between which of the gift certificate options you want to get for her. Below are some of those options:
-For a spa:
Most girls in this age group (and in general) love the idea of a day at the spa. At her nearest salon, you can get her a gift certificate for a massage, a manicure/pedicure set, a facial, or whatever! There are plenty of choices. Inquire for details at her nearest salon.
-For her favorite store:
Do you know what store that special lady likes to shop at? A great gift option would be to get her a gift certificate from that store. This way she can buy whatever she likes, at a place she really likes.

Don’t know what her favorite store is? No problem! Get her a gift certificate for the mall she shops at. Within that mall she will be able to buy whatever she likes, in whatever store she likes.

ITunes is a fun store for all ages. With a gift certificate from ITunes, she will have the option of buying music, audiobooks, movies, or television seasons. Even if she isn’t interested in audiobooks, movies, or television, music is a universal love. An ITunes gift card is an option that is difficult to find fault with.
6. How much are you willing to spend?
-A car:
Between ages sixteen and eighteen is the time for getting one’s first car. How close are you to this girl? If you’re just friends, this might not be such a good option, as cars are extremely expensive. Consider one of the options above instead.
-A laptop:
People of all ages want laptops. If your young lady is starting college (as is probable within this age group) a laptop is especially useful. They’re expensive though! Again, you need to analyze how close the two of you are. Also, make sure she doesn’t have one already!
5. Cash:
When all else fails, just give her a check for however much you want to spend on her. You can’t go wrong with cash. Yes, it’s a bit impersonal and uncreative, but she’ll be able to buy whatever she wants with it, wherever she wants, and you’ll be happy that you provided a gift she can appreciate. After all, who ‘doesn’t’ appreciate money?
