ALT-1 Gift Ideas for Guys Age 17 20
I am 23 and a guy; when I was 17-20 I wanted what most guys want at that age; well gift wise. Cars, money, clothes, video games, and music. This is an age period where the high school years are winding down, college may be beginning for some and for others a career/job may be beginning. A whole world of new freedoms and responsibilities falls on the shoulders of many in this age group.
Since not everyone can buy a guy a car, money is usually a favorite. I remember I bought my first car (an 86 camaro) at 18 and for a Christmas present I received half of my insurance money as well as registration money so I could use the car. I also received gifts related to taking care of the car. I also recall getting video games for the system I had. I also was lucky enough to get a new computer the summer before heading to college as a graduation present.
If the guy your buying for is into skating and biking; anything related to those activities will do well. Also things like cologne, watches, gym equipment and gift cards to his favorite clothing store (ie. the place where he walks in, picks up a few pairs of jeans and walks out) and gift cards to electronics stores like Best Buy. I'd stay away from video game stores only because you really have to know the person to get the perfect game; plus some people at this age aren't really into video games. They recently received their ticket to freedom (aka drivers license) and are at an age where the opposite sex is always on their minds. (Thus why clothing and cars are of increased interest as well)
A good rule of thumb is if he wouldn't wear it, use it, or play it in front of or around his peers then it probably isn't a good gift to give him.
