Home made gift baskets are probably one of the funnest gift ideas for any occasion. The creativity that goes into a gift basket is fun to put together, fun to give, and especially fun on the receiving end of things. It can never be stated enough that when it comes to any gift personalization is key! There are a few guidelines to remember when creating your homemade gift basket:
-"Theme baskets" can be fun, but it is really not necessary to always stick to a theme. Sometimes the point can be a little lost when we are trying to put together a basket that is strictly movie themed, we might forget she likes lip gloss and cats too! This guideline is more of a misconception breaker because any basket's theme is fine when its filled with things the receiver is going to love.
-Presentation can make the whole thing come together. The classic basket or gift bag is always appreciated, but there are some ways to make the package interesting too.Depending on who the gift is for be sure and add items that decorate the basket and are not necessarily gifts. A newborn will not likely use a rubber duck from the dollar tree but adding a few items keeps the basket looking bright and well decorated. A young girl might like several large bows as decoration in and around her gift basket. Inexpensive items help to make the gift festive and fun. The container can be just just about anything as well. Many dollar stores have fabric purse-type bags than can be filled with goodies. Think outside the basket and fill up a small trash can, an empty food container, a vase, or even a pair of slippers!
-Gift baskets are good for anyone, any occasion. They go over well for anniversary, birthday and Christmas. They work for a close friend, an office acquaintance and just as well for a teacher. They are a nice way of saying "I wanted you to know that i put some though into this" and they allow the receiver to enjoy it on many levels.
Now, what goes in?! Variety is probably the best way to go. Cheap items, a few higher priced items, items of all different sizes and materials will make the gift truly unique.Don't be afraid to throw in a few silly things that will most likely get some use. Afterall, everyone wears socks, and everyone likes girlscout cookies!
