ALT-1 Fathers Day Scrapbook Ideas

From 3arf

A scrapbook can be a great gift idea, not only because it is meaningful and unique, but also because it shows the person receiving it that, whoever prepared it for him/her wanted to make something special, instead of just browsing through the internet or rushing to the mall to find a quick present idea and get it out of the way without investing too much time and effort.

A scrapbook requires a little research, planning and preparation. It is a symbolic gift that demonstrates love and care. It is also a representation that you really know the person that you are preparing it for, because you need to include what is really important in somebody else's life.

Before starting to work on your father's day scrapbook, you have to, of course, SEARCH FOR PICTURES. Look first for pictures of those who make him that special dad: his children. You can either choose a chronological sequence for each child, or do it by choosing a theme: vacations, holiday gatherings, meaningful family events, etc.

Make sure you have the BASIC CRAFT MATERIALS: different colors of cardboard, two or three scissors with fancy cutting styles, craft glue, markers, letters and father day's related stickers. Nowadays, you can find several specialized stores that sell very fancy materials to prepare your scrapbook. You can also go to a general arts and crafts store and search in the scrapbooking section.

It is also important to include in the scrapbook any SPECIAL INTEREST OR HOBBY that dad may have. For example, if he plays a specific sport, choose some pictures or articles from sport specific magazines. If he likes to paint or draw, find some of his art pieces take pictures of them or scan them so that you can include them in memory lane.

Make your scrapbook personal and meaningful by having his kids and wife WRITE SOMETHING SPECIAL. It can be some original poem or prose or, for lack of imagination, look for special poems or sayings that you think he can relate to.

If you think you don't have the patience or skills to cut, paste, select color themes, etc. to make this scrapbook all by yourself, I would recommend looking at websites such as www.shutterfly.com or www.snapfish.com, where you can upload your selected pictures and then create a Photo book. There are pre designed page templates. All you have to do is click and drag your pictures with the mouse and write your personal captions. It is easy and the end result is also very unique.

Regardless of what specific technique you choose to make your scrapbook, the most important element of it should be that it has to make dad feel special and bring back special memories of his life as a father.
