ALT-1 Easter Baskets
The other day, my grandson spent the weekend with some friends with a set of grandparents. They decided to go Mountain HIgh to the snow and toboggan. While they were off, they were fed fried rabbit. I asked my grandson, who is eleven, what if they had eaten the Bunny Rabbit? He laughed and said, "well, I hope not." He walked away with a smile on his face.
His little friend came the next day; one who had gone with them and I asked him the same thing. He got a little passive and said, "well, I thought about that already." I assured him, he didn't and he was okay though, I felt like pure dirt.
Easter is one of the most beautiful times of the year, whether it is raining or the sun is shining brightly.
The religious meaning of it is beautiful and it just seems the world is fresh and clean. The flowers are just now blooming and the children are all walking around with chocolate on their faces with a couple of sweet and sours in their hands and pockets.
When my grandchildren open their baskets the Easter Bunny brings, I love to see what kind of candy it holds. Of course, I sit back on the couch until they have opened it, searched it and took what they wanted and left. Then, I will sneak over when no one if around.
Those large pastel eggs with the hard coating are just perfect Easter candy for the children. They are tasty, don't melt when hot and resemble an Easter egg. So do jelly beans - jelly belly's are the ones, for they have so many flavors and the children will give me the ones they don't like.
Hershey's kisses with a pastel wrapping are okay and they are good. I think everybody likes those. It's just that you will find the wrappings all over the house after it is over.
Of course, an Easter basket wouldn't be complete without a chocolate bunny which should be the largest item and some lollipops would be good. Marshmallow chicks have always graced any of the baskets I've seen. A couple of Cadbury eggs, some little wrapped Reese's eggs and pastel Lifesavers are quite delicious for a sweet.
Personally, I think anything you put in a basket for Easter is wonderful. Anyone would be happy to wake up and discover one.
