ALT-1 Do Men or Women cause more Auto Accidents
Unfocused, distracted and often over-tired individuals cause auto accidents, not particularly men or women. People can sometimes be observed talking on mobile phones, eating sandwiches and picking their nose as they merrily drive along.
They may also be seen checking their hairstyle in the mirror, turning around to talk to their children who are sat on the back seat, and fumbling in the glove compartment.
All these types of behavior can cause auto accidents. It really boils down to a lack of concentration coupled with a complete lack of regard for other road users. These kinds of people tend to be thinking only of their own problems, and have little awareness of what's happening around them.
Sometimes it is because they naturally have a scatty personality. At other times they may be stressed or have been on the road without pulling over for a break for far too long. Being a sensible and responsible auto user requires the ability to focus on the task at hand, and is not dependent on the gender of driver.
Insurance companies often give drivers over a certain age a better deal when offering an insurance premium. It is also true that many offer special rates for women, as statistics have shown that women, as a gender, have been involved in fewer accidents.
It could be that this is so, or it may be that there are more male drivers than women drivers on the road. It may also be that there are more male drivers of a young age who are more likely than others to have, or cause an accident, although it wouldn't be fair to tar all young men with the same brush.
Causing an accident can come about by being too cautious, just as it can come about from being over zealous. It is great to be careful, but too much caution can cause confusion and ultimately frayed tempers and indecision.
Boy racers, as young male fast drivers are often referred to as, can make bad decisions as they are moving too fast to focus on what's happening around them. Slower drivers annoy those behind them who then end up overtaking in unsuitable places. These people are sometimes called Sunday drivers, as they are definitely not in a hurry.
There again, thankfully, there are people, male or female, who drive at a reasonable pace, make good decisions and who are generally good drivers. To say that one particular sex causes more auto accidents would probably be unfair to such well behaved drivers who are labelled just because of their gender.
