ALT-1 Christmas 2007 Music Gift Ideas for your Teen Girl
You're fifteen years old. Your sitting in the back seat of the family car, and a new chart hit begins to play on the radio; its the song that you and your friends listened to when Mary broke up with her boyfriend. The tune triggers memories of smiling and crying together, of pulling together as friends, and of experiencing emotions like never before. Every time you hear this song, you are overwhelmed my the emotions, like it was just yesterday.
Teens are at a stage in their life where they are experiencing emotions they may never have felt before. Young adults are usually ruled by their heart, and music is one way they express the palpable emotions and thoughts that impact their lives everyday. Teens use music to express themselves, to make a statement, to hold together with others for a common purpose... and of course, to enjoy.
So what gifts can you give your teens girl, who sings in her room to the latest hits so often, you think she'll grow up to be a lead in 'High School Musical'?
An mp3 player is one of the latest gadgets that is coveted by almost all teenagers. Costing up to a few hundred dollars, they can sometimes be on the expensive side. However, these personal music players are not like the Walkman/Discman of old. Mp3 players don't need a constant supply of fresh batteries as they contain a long lasting rechargeable battery, and don't have many moving parts so are not as easy to break if dropped. These players are small, but some can hold more songs then you could ever imagine.
If your girl already has an mp3 player, then perhaps a prepaid card to download songs from the Internet at some digital music stores would be well received. This allows legal download of many songs, and each only costs a nominal amount that often works out to be alot cheaper than purchasing CD's.
Why not investigate a little, and find out your teens favourite artist 'de jour'? Try and find a concert to take her to, or perhaps an album launch you could both attend together. Even though you may absolutely detest the music she loves, she will appreciate the gesture and it would be a great way to draw close to your girl over the holiday period.
Perhaps your daughter isn't entranced with chart music, she may prefer alternative, or even classical music. Whatever the case may be, these gifts can be tailored to meet the tastes of your teen girl. It's as true today as it has ever been; "If music be the fruit of love, play on..."
