ALT-1 Christmas 2007 Gift Ideas for Geeky Teen Girls

From 3arf

While shopping for this so-called "geeky" teen girl, keep in mind that geek doesn't necessarily mean outcast or mean that she is socially incompetent! I say this because I was a (female) high school soccer player who dated the quarter back of the school's football team... but I was ALSO captain of the school's debate team! That being said, a geeky girl is often brainy, but very well-rounded. She can actually be easier to shop for because she is more open to new ideas and trying new things than a typical teenage girl.

So how to pick the best gift for the geeky girl? Here's a clue: find her passion. If she is geeky, she's probably very knowledgeable in one particular area, maybe to the point of obsession. She may know TOO much about it! That can be a starting idea, and you can go from there.

A few words of warning: I do list some items below, but you may want to be cautious about purchasing electronics or specialized gifts, or even books on their favorite topic, for a geek girl. Chances are high that she will be very picky about these items, and may actually already own them.

A few fun and different ideas...

- Binary clocks (that show time in binary instead of decimal), such as Cube Root TIX Clock, which shows the time in colored patterns. The lights change every few seconds depending on how you set the clock.

- A welcome mat with a "binary" design! (you can Google this one, but it does exist)

- Esoteric toys such as Zoob (brightly colored plastic linking toy that resembles genetic strands of DNA)

- Laptop computer skins. Geeks who use laptops like nice notebook skin.

- The Victorinox SwissMemory stick. It serves as memory stick with anti-virus in case their computer were to crash.

- a roll-up keyboard that can travel

- giant plush microbes stuffed animals (another item you can Google to purchase)

- The Mobile Edge WiFi Signal Locator. This is actually a keychain that detects the nearest WiFi computer internet access signals!

- an Eye-Fi card, a wireless memory card that automatically uploads images from your camera to your computer, or to the web.

Again, you'll want to consider your geek girl's interests when choosing a gift. Think of her main passion(s) and go from there. And keep in mind that she is still just a teenage girl, so she may just want a regular old Blockbuster gift card too!
