ALT-1 Best Gifts for new Parents
Being a new parent can be one of the most emotional points if your life; at the same time, being a new parent can be one of the most terrifying points in your life. For the latter, you can feel scared about not being a good parent and so forth. For the former, this is the start of building your own family. You can be a new parent by having a child through child birth or adopting a child. If you have never had children before, you are still a new parent nonetheless. For new parents in general, there are plenty of gifts you can give them. In today's economy, it can be financially burdensome to raise a child (regardless of whether through childbirth or through adoption).
The absolute best gift you can give to new parents would be money or gift certificates. There are many reasons that money would make a great gift for new parents. The first reason is that it is very practical depending on the parents' financial situation. Money, as a gift, can be used to buy diapers, baby formula, baby food, toys, and everything else.
Gift certificates work in the same fashion for the most part. You can get a gift certificate or gift card at places such as Wal-Mart, Kohl's, or some other store that specializes in baby accessories. Make sure that you have a greeting card to accompany the gift. If the new parents are financially well off, then a money gift or gift certificate/card might not be the way to go.
When giving a gift, let alone to new parents, it is the thought that counts. For parents expecting a newborn child, there are certain things you can go ahead and buy. If they need a crib for the baby, you can pitch in to buy one. If the crib is rather expensive, you and other friends/relatives can pitch in together to get that crib. You could buy clothes, diapers, baby formula, toys, and anything else that the child could use.
For the parents, you can buy a baby monitor as a gift. If the baby is sleeping in another room, a reliable baby monitor becomes incredibly handy. Other ideas for gifts could be blankets, baby-friendly music, baby car seats, and other things.
You could buy books on parenting to help out the new parents. In most cases, new parents will have plenty of self-doubt. Books on parenting could help alleviate the self-doubt of those parents. If the new parents adopted the child, books and DVDs on child adoption can prove to be helpful. They can study in preparation of the date of finalized adoption.
Keep in mind that you might not be able to afford to give money or a gift due to your own financial situation. You always give a card with words of encouragement. If you have skills and/or talents, you could put them to good use. For example, if you are skilled in welding, you could make a baby crib for them. If you are skilled in sewing and/or knitting, you can make some baby clothes.
You can give the parents any gift; but, make sure that they are tasteful and appropriate.
