ALT-1 2010 Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade Floats Lineup

From 3arf

Getting up early on Thanksgiving morning to watch the parades on TV is a cherished tradition in many families.  Most would agree that the biggest and best of all the parades is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

It’s also one of the longest running of the parades, dating all the way back to 1924.

This year as always the Macy’s Parade features three hours of celebrities (e.g., Kanye West and Jessica Simpson), giant helium balloons (e.g., Spongebob Squarepants and Shrek), marching bands (e.g., the NYPD marching band), and a plethora of other miscellaneous acts (e.g., Varsity Spirit Cheerleaders).

But what many parade viewers most look forward to are the floats.

One of the most talked about floats for 2010 is “Snow Queen,” featuring Joan Rivers in the title role, supported by her daughter Melissa and Melissa’s son Cooper as the Snow Princess and Jack Frost respectively.

Then there’s “Top Hat,” a 12-foot tall top hat to celebrate Harlem’s Apollo Theater’s 75th anniversary.  Kids’ favorite Dora the Explorer is the star of “Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure,” in which Dora and her pals learn the true meaning of the holidays.

“Elves Raise the Roof” is a rollicking dance show.  “Mount Rushmore’s American Pride” hits a patriotic note.  And in case you’re not already hungry enough thinking about your turkey that just went in the oven, there’s “Home Baked Goodness,” featuring a giant cast iron stove top overflowing with cupcakes, cookies, and gingerbread men.

Here is the complete 2010 lineup of floats, along with their sponsors:
